Are you serious?

If you haven't noticed by now, I am one of those people that predominantly gets my news from facebook. Warning to everyone: DO NOT EVER read a status update or like page and assume its true. Google it and look for a legitimate news source. We all have brains so lets use them and not believe rumors. That is probably my biggest pet peeve!

Today, I ran across a status update of someone saying that a woman was almost killed because some crazy lady thought she was Casey Anthony. I commented and said "are you serious?" and then immediately looked up the topic finding this article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2015138/Woman-looks-like-Casey-Anthony-attacked-Oklahoma-gas-station.html
and this video: (you can just watch the video honestly. same information)

I just want to note that Casey is still in prison and not at a gas station! Crazy lady!

When I came back to facebook to see my notification that the person had replied I came back to this comment saying: "Um yeah. It is sad the world is out to kill her so bad that someone almost killed a women just because she slightly looks like that monster. I mean I understand why, and to a degree I agree with them but then at the same time I feel like a person needs to make sure their actually killing her and not a look alike.."
Wow! I had a very hard time holding my tongue. I don't know why this shocked me so. Comments full of ignorance have been cirlcling facebook like vultures since Casey Anthony received the verdict of not guilty on July 5th. I've seen comments and status updates that the jurors deserved to be murdered. I've seen comments and status updates that Judge Perry deserved to be murdered. Of course, I've seen hundreds of comments and status updates that Casey Anthony deserved to be murdered.

The jurors did not have enough evidence to convict Casey Anthony of manslaughter with a REASONABLE DOUBT. If you are on my facebook, you have heard me say that several times.
Here is a news report: an interview with Juror 3

If you remember, some of these jurors left the room crying on July 5th. They thought she was guilty just like most of America but had no proof to convict her.

If you need something or someone to be angry about, think about this:
1. Caylee's body was reported found in that swamp MANY times. This first time was in August yet Caylee's body was not recovered by the police until December. Could more evidence of been reported if the police had done their job? Would little Caylee have justice right now?
2. The Anthony family and Casey Anthony has told lie after lie. They're up, down, back and forth and everyone has been caught in a lie. Would an investigation have been easier if we had gotten less lies?  Would little Caylee have justice right now?
3. Casey Anthony waited an entire month to report her child missing. For that, I think she is guilty of some crime but technically she broke no law in doing so. Would an investigation been easier if it had began the very day the problem began? Would little Caylee have her justice right now?
If you haven't already heard of it, there is one thing that has arose after this case that I believe is positive. Caylee's Law is a citizen created idea. This law would make it a felony for a parent to not report their child missing in a timely manner. Here is a link to sign a petition for Caylee's Law. http://www.change.org/petitions/create-caylees-law

Do you remember this little girl?

JonBenet Ramsey was killed in 1996. For years, investigations went on and on. Though other suspects came in, her parents were always the main suspects. In 2008, DNA evidence was able to completely clear her parents name. This was after the death of Patsy Ramsey, her mother, in 2006. Americans spent 12 years just assuming the Ramseys killed their daughter even though the police couldn't even find enough evidence to take the Ramseys to court. What if we had all said, " Until they find enough evidence, I'm gonna give the Ramseys the benefit of the doubt."

I have a newsflash for you America: We shape the media. The media gives us exactly what we want to hear. If public opinion is that Casey killed Caylee, then every news station and newspaper is gonna go with that same idea because its all about raitings. Yes, some media stations will play devil's advocate and take middle ground and some will even take the other side because they genuninely believe it. However, for the most part, they'll worry about ratings and go with public opinion. So while every American stomps around and hopes Casey Anthony "gets what she deserves," there is very real possibility that Caylee's killer could be out there and that Casey didn't do it. No one else has ever really been suspected in Caylee's death. I'm not saying that Casey Anthony didn't kill her daughter. She could have. However, if there isn't enough evidence out there, then, someone else could have done it. The longer we concentrate on Casey, (even with her acquittal) the longer there is someone else who could be getting away with something. JonBenet's killer is off running free somewhere! Could the same thing be of Caylee's? We don't know. None of us know. So its our job to shut our mouths with the stupidity and the anger and the hate. Casey has been legally acquitted and deserves to live her life now. I always encourage good discussion but if you can't speak with intelligence, shut your mouth! Honestly! If Casey killed Caylee, God will deal with her. Its as simple as that. The only thing your ignorant comments will do in the mean time is make God deal with you as well.

Michele Bachmann = NO

As the 2012 election quickly approaches, Michele Bachman has become one of the  front runners for the Republican Party. Bachmann is the first Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. Before I go any further, please watch a few of these videos below.

And hit this link for the second: (Sorry they don't allow me to inbed the vid)
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/michele-bachmanns-family-business-exposed-14049522

According to http://www.michelebachmann.com, Michele Bachmann "staunchly stands for religious liberties" and "has proudly taken a vow to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Do we see a problem with these statements?

Not only does the woman not understand freedom of religion by pushing her religion into her anti-gay agenda but her husband in UNLICENSED! Yes, this man runs Bachmann and Associates and has collected over $100,000 in Medicaid (a program Michele has spoke against many times) and pushes the "ex-gay" theory onto his patients without a proper license. Do we see this as a big problem as well?

Listen to this clip of audio by Bachmann in 2004. The full audio can be found here:
 http://dumpmichelebachmann.com/audio/MB_Edwatch_Nov2004.mp3
Warning: Its an hour long so if you need a good summary, you can find it here:
 http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20079221-503544.html

The moment that makes me angriest that isn't discussed in the clip of audio nor the article is when Bachmann actually goes so far in her "not gay bashing" to accuse the GLBT community of hiring Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church to carry his "God hates Fags" signs in order to provide themselves with publicity. I could write a whole blog on that subject but I'll skip it for tonight and continue it later. If you aren't familiar with this, ( I assume most of you will be) check out this quick video. If you are aware of Westboro and haven't seen this video, I strongly urge you watch!

Off my tangent again and back to the audio. Bachmann speaks in the audio about an amendment in Minnesota. This amendment will reinforce the Defense of Marriage Act in MN in order to ensure that gay marriage will not ever be legalized. Bachmann, as she says, was the chief author in amendment. I love how Bachmann goes on to state fake facts about how most gays have been abused. I would love a citation on where she got that fact. I also want to note how she says that schools will be forced to teach homosexuality and "sexual identity" and that parents will loose control of what their children will learn. Well Bachmann, heterosexuality isn't taught in school so why would the reverse? And she calls the homosexual lifestyle bondage but I must say that those who have went through the "ex-gay" programs are under bondage. These men and women live a lie that they are bound to due to the lies they have been told by people like Bachmann and her family. I also love the false love she tries to pour down on the GLBT community. As a lesbian, Bachmann just please don't send your love my way! If you ever happen to have an hour to listen to the whole lecture, I urge you to do so. You'll be shocked and outraged by her for sure.

Michele and Marcus Bachmann and their homophobic and anti-gay agenda have no place in our white house. The military enforced law of Don't Ask Don't Tell has been repealed and the next step is a federal acceptance of gay marriage. So if this crazy woman makes it further in this election, I ask you all to vote against her.

On some lighter notes, here is a video from the Reitan Family. I first ran into this family when I watched For the Bible Tells Me So. They are a family that have stepped up for their gay son and became activist in the GLBT community. In this video, they speak up against the amendment in MN that Bachmann is a lead supporter on.

Also, here is a video that is quite humorous with similar humor to Saturday Night Live. Will Bachmann be our next Sarah Palin?

I think so! We all love the stupid Sarah Palin quotes! Here are some by Michele Bachmann.
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/06/16/246618/bachmann-craziest-quotes/

Have I convinced you this woman will be a REALLY bad idea for America yet? God, I hope so.
But as a fellow blogger said, Thank you Michele Bachmann, "Honest to God, we in the LGBT community owe a debt of gratitude to Michele Bachmann. Her presidential bid has triggered an explosion of ex-gay industry coverage in the media. We couldn’t pay for better publicity."

Who says men aren't discriminated against?

Don't get me wrong! I'm a slight feminist. I'll complain all day that men make more money, that they'll probably get a job over me, and just in general that I don't really care for them because I'm a lesbian. Kidding on that last part. Yes, I'm a lesbian. No, I don't hate men... I just simply don't want to date them.

Alright, off the tangent! Do you remember that movie The Burning Bed with Farrah Fawcett? Here is a quick summary for those who don't remember: An abused battered wife has had enough of husband beating up on her. Everywhere she turns for help, there's not much anyone will do. After he rapes her one night, she sets the bed on fire with him in it asleep. (IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087010/)

Now, for the women out there: Did you watch that once upon a time in the 90s and think, "That man got exactly what he deserved! Go Farrah!"? I am pretty confident that for most women if you hear a story of a woman killing or hurting her husband, then you think "Well, I am willing to bet that F**ker deserved it." Am i right? I'm not sure what the men think and I'm kind of curious to be honest. (Men- please comment and let me know.) What about the movies we watch where the husband eventually hits the peak of the abuse on his wife and kills her? What is our reaction? We feel awful for the lady, right? We're saddened by the story. We should be. And then we're like "I hope that f**ker rots in jail for what he did!"

 Getting to my point:
Whenever we hear stories of men suffering abuse by the hand of a woman, I'd say we women normally assume the guy had it coming. As women, we tend to stick together just as often as we stab knives in each other's backs. We're talented like that! :)

This story came out today and I caught it through a friend's facebook. Check out the link: http://www.cnn.com/2011/CRIME/07/13/california.penis.knifing/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Note that "Becker told police he 'deserved it'." Comments on facebook included: "WIN," "DAMN SHE IS BAD TO THE BONER," (yes, I laughed at that one too) and "He'll probably still find a way to cheat." I have yet to read anything on the full situation other than the fact that they were going through a divorce. Why do we assume the guy deserved it? Maybe she was a crazy biotch?

So as I said in the title: Who says men aren't discriminated against? This dude could've been a perfectly good guy who married a bi-polar lady. He could've served the lady with divorce papers and she just flipped out. Then again, he could've been exactly what we women will assume of him. I just think its interesting how we all think.

Just do me one favor: Next time you hear about a women cutting off a man's junk, please consider at least this. If he did deserve it, he got his punishment big time and I promise he won't make the same mistake twice. However, maybe, just maybe you'll just feel bad for the guy for like a second! I would hope so. Assumptions just never pay off in my opinion.

To end this blog, Here is a fact I found on the website http://www.batteredmen.com
"A survey 0f 1,000 women, perhaps the largest survey of its kind, found that 20% had initiated violence. The most common reasons for women initiating domestic violence were: "My partner wasn't sensitive to my needs," (46%), "I wished to gain my partner's attention," (44%) and "My partner was not listening to me" (43%). "My partner was being verbally abusive to me" (38%) was a distant fourth."

Lets Dance!

I'm the type of person always reading articles, watching the news, etc. and then I have way to much to say about the issue at hand. I'm very opinionated to put it nicely. When I see things that I believe are wrong in whatever way, I want to expose them to the world and make it right. I want to be an activist for gay rights. I want to speak up against racism. I want to speak up against stupidity in general. I want to make a difference. This is what this will be for me. I am gonna gear this blog toward ending discrimination and stupidity in every sector. Its a big battle and I may just blow smoke and its perfectly fine if 5 people read this blog ever. However, I would absolutely love for my thoughts to make a difference.

On a lighter note, here is a video by MyFavoriteMartian. Its quite humorous but Ray Williams Johnson says everything very nicely! Enjoy and subscribe to Ray! You'll love him!

My favorite part is when he says, "They're stereotypes, and if you believe them, then your brain is small like a Korean's penis."

I would like to thank an old college professor before I get into my first actual blog. Dr. Anderson was my "Diversity" teacher in college. See, if you're an education major, you must take a class exposing you to all different cultures in order to ensure you will treat your students equally. I think EVERY person in America should take this kind of course. Dr. Anderson went above and beyond the course to really make sure her students understood each other and other cultures out there.
